  1. I am looking at the credits and there is no way I can come up with the required 20. It is too late to come up with the additional 5 which I need to make the 20. Why were we not informed of the changes, did I miss something? I worked so hard and have kept my certification for several years just to have it taken from me because of the change.

    • Hi Janeen,

There was a notice in the 2nd quarter Journal last year. It was also posted on social media and the website. Please look at the form, there are a few ways to get credits. One of the easier ways, it to read some articles from LAST year, like Podiatry Management (they are available online) write about the article and submit it, with your recertification forms. The details about how long are listed on the form.

  2. I agree is there some way to get more credits in a short time? I could do all questionnaires and write 5 summaries of articles I have read but it only says write article but not how many words.
I have no issue with writing a article about something I read but I need to make sure I write enough to get the credits.
Please let me know so I can be sure to have it done in time to subbmit.

    • Hi,

Here is what the recertification paper says.

Written Podiatric Medical Assisting Article Summaries ……………………………………………………………………2
The summary must be a minimum of a half-page and the Article must be cited (article may need to be submitted)
CANNOT SUBMIT MORE THAN 5 ARTICLE SUMMARIES

So as long as it is half page and cited, you should be fine.

      • Cheryl,

There is also a PMAC review course that is listed for total of 8 points.
where is there availability to take this course and is there a fee?
There was a link to a extra source on the Facebook page staying if need more CME’s go to link but it is listed as page not found. It states it can be used in addition to the Journal questionnaires.
Thanks so much and if these two option are a possibility could you please direct me to the place to find them so I can thank the review course and also go to the online page for more CME’s.

        • Hi Anne,

The online CME’s should have been done in 2020, for them to count towards the recertification in 2021. This information page is in the member’s only section. So you would need to login to the website for this information.

The review course is only available for in-person and done the day before the exam. We are continually working on things to add for assistants to gains credits.

Please visit the recertification page and click the chairperson in charge of your state form, it has different ways that you can obtain credits. Please also feel free to reach out to them if you have questions.
