Hello to one and all!

My name is Anna Fabach, and I am your new President for the 2010-11 term. I have worked in podiatry for 30 years, and have been on the ASPMA Board since 1999. I started out when our previous Executive Director, Sandra Lohrentz, asked if I would fill in the vacant position of Administrative Assistant. As I was already working with Sandra in her office, I thought I could probably handle this, and I actually still hold this position. When a vacancy arose in our Executive Board at Vice-President, she asked again if I would fill in. I had never planned on moving through the Officer chairs, but as a favor to her, and believing that she would always be there to help me, I agreed.

However, Fate had other ideas, and plans changed greatly with Sandra’s sudden passing last year. Now, our Board had to work together to keep ASPMA a viable and effective organization. I believe we have finally completed the transition, and with our new Executive Director, Karen M. Keathley PMAC, in place, we are back in business and looking forward to achieving new goals in the 21st Century.

New projects that are proceeding well include our Intern program and our Online Educational Program. The assistants that we have working as Interns have brought freshness and new blood into our Board. Some have joined as officers; some, unfortunately, could not stay on, but we have been pleased with the hard work they have all provided. With our Online Program, we hope to shortly offer our Certification Exams online for our members who cannot attend the various conferences across the country. We already offer assorted educational topics on our website-be sure to check them out.

We still offer Assistants educational programs, however. We always do the Midwest in Chicago, the Region III Meeting in Atlantic City, and the APMA National, this year to be held in Seattle. There are often Assistants programs at other meetings also, such as the Western in California in June, and various state meetings such as Michigan, South Carolina and Washington state. Be sure to check with your state podiatry associations and see what is being offered. You will often meet some of our Board members at these meetings. Keeping yourselves well educated in podiatry can only benefit your Doctor and your patients

Let us know how we’re doing. If you have any suggestions, ideas, articles, please contact the appropriate Board member-the contact info is in the Journal and on our website, aspma.org.

We’d all love to hear from you, and look forward to meeting many of you in the future at our Conferences. Happy Spring to all!

Sincerely,

Anna M. Fabach, PMAC

President ASPMA
