ASPMA Internship 2010-2011
Who can apply to be an ASPMA internship?

Any ASPMA member who holds a PMAC status, either clinical or administrative. The applicant must be in good standing with the ASPMA with their membership and recertification dues and status. The applicant must currently be employed by a podiatric physician with current APMA membership.

What is an ASPMA intern and what will they do?

The ASPMA board of directors shall select two candidates as interns, each serving a one year probationary period. The candidate shall provide the board of directors with a resume of prior leadership experience, the importance of displaying professionalism at all time, past work experience, any professional affiliations, and why they would value an internship position on the board. The resume should also indicate current employer, family approval and support during the period of internship and possible future involvement as an officer of ASPMA.

The selected interns will begin their responsibilities at the 2010 Midwest Podiatry Conference in Chicago, Illinois.

ASPMA will pay travel, lodging and meeting registration for two meetings during the internship; the APMA Annual Meeting and Midwest Podiatry Conference in Chicago.

What does an ASPMA intern do?

During these two meetings, the intern(s) will assist any board member needing help with their work load.  Examples are, setting up meeting rooms, stuffing registration packets, welcoming and directing assistants to their meeting rooms.  Once at the meeting rooms, interns will assist speakers with handouts, act as a liaison with the moderator and any other function as requested by a board member.  The intern(s) shall at all times act in a professional manner in appropriate business attire.

Between meetings and during the rest of their term, interns will be assigned other duties to help board members with various committees promoting the ASPMA.

The intern(s) shall at all times, during all ASPMA functions act in a professional manner, according to our Principles of Ethics.

Upon completion of the one-year internship, the intern(s) will be evaluated and considered as a possible candidate for the secretary of the ASPMA.
